Regarding small college publishing: I wonder if the problem is not so much with the publishers, they do a good job, but with the lack of material coming out of the higher education system. No good lectures to print. I wonder where the good lectures are today? Any ideas?
Great question. I'm not very knowledgeable on current happenings, but there are a few that used to be great but have mostly been captured by certain trends:
Fleming Lecture Series at LSU
Mercer University Lamar Memorial Lectures
I did a quick internet search for "University Lecture series in Southern History" and there seems to be a good number of them. Probably could do the same search for any discipline.
